Social unrest in Chile

October 18th was a fundamental day in the history of Chile, considered the day in "Chile Awakened", this was caused by a chain of social problems that had no space to endure more facts and legitimacies that only privileged the minority of the population.

The secondary students began with the evasion of the Metro (subway) in large groups based on the resounding rejection of a new rise in the passage in the last one, and all the people supported them and followed them. To this day the demonstrations continue, always supported by a first line, which protects against any possible interruption by Carabineros de Chile.

Throughout this period (which has been a little more than two months) on the part of the state of Chile and the armed forces human rights have been violated, since they have been responsible for torture and murder, for mutilations of eyes due to shots, to cause panic and to proclaim "a war".

Honestly, as a negative aspect of the whole situation, during the first week I was overwhelmed by everything that was happening and seeing (mainly through social networks), seeing people injured at the hands of Carabineros de Chile, it caused me anxiety and anger, I had a feeling useless, I didn't know what to do or how to react exactly. It seemed a bit far from the real situation in Santiago, since on Isla de Maipo it canceled all the public transport that was going there, there is a certain disconnection.

The outbreak, in my opinion, is one of the most positive events I lived. It has made me grow, reflect, observe more clearly, surprise me and get excited, as well as having a conversation with my mom about what is going on and telling me that YES is the way. I was able to meet organized groups and I was able to participate with them in different interventions and commemorative events in Isla de Maipo, I realized that, despite being a rural town and without much political participation, create spaces where happy people come to participate, to give they opinion, to sing "El derecho de vivir en paz", and to manifest.

What has caught my attention the most and I like it is that people are united, that there is a fellowship, an organization, a collective intelligence to face the situation. In the calls there are roles, such as first line, first aid, etc. The development of this impacts and moves me.

I hope that with this movement, outbreak, or as everyone wants to call it, changes will be concluded, that people are informed, that there are new reforms, that they stop laughing at the majority, that collective consciousness expands more and more, and that the deaths and losses they have suffered during this period are not in vain.
